One of the best growers of orchids I know gave me his recipe to the perfect Oncidium orchid potting mix. This is a grower who can take a standard 4" oncidium, and within a year or two turn it into an AOS award winning specimin! Believe me when I say you'd like to be an orchid under his care! This mix is made with fine fir bark, with a little small diatomite (my addition, not from the original recipe), and a "secret" ingredient, Calcium, which orchids love! I don't really understand the principals of the stuff, but suffice to say that I'm going to have to believe this grower.. I've seen proof! Have a couple trials going with other local growers, and will list the results here once they are in. It's a pretty simple mix but quite successful! 1 gallon |
